Chambers County Republican Party Chairwoman Kristi Nelson won a special election for Alabama House District 38 on Tuesday night.

Nelson easily defeated Democratic nominee Hazel Floyd, tallying nearly 85 percent of the vote.

The district has been solidly Republican for over a decade, according to Alabama Reflector.

Alabama Reflector shared further:

Nelson said in an interview Tuesday evening that she was “so excited and so honored to be able to represent the people that I feel like have raised me and built me and helped to make me the person that I am.”

Nelson’s platforms included eliminating taxes and strengthening law enforcement.

Democratic candidate Hazel Floyd said in an interview Tuesday evening that she appreciates her voters.

“I’m very thankful for everyone who came out to vote for me. I would not have been in this position had those people not come out and supported me,” she said.

Nelson raised $158,135 and spent $131,926.58. Several of her cash donations came from political action committees (PACs) and businesses.

According to campaign finance records, Floyd raised $3,527.64 and spent $2,653.20. All of her cash donations came from individuals.

Both candidates have qualified for the November general election for the seat.

WTVM noted:

House District 38 includes portions of Chambers and Lee counties. Nelson’s victory makes her the district’s first new representative since 2018.

She replaces Rep. Debbie Hamby Wood, who stepped down from the seat last summer as her family planned a move to Florida.

We are pleased to announce our partnership with Hunter Tylo.

Many of you will recognize her as the actress who stared in such daytime dramas as All My Children and The Bold and the Beautiful. PEOPLE Magazine twice named her one of the world’s 50 most beautiful people. She was also successful in suing Aaron Spelling over his firing her from Melrose Place for not aborting her child, a case which is widely recognized in supporting a Mother’s rights.

Hunter is coming onto TUC YouTube LIVE this Thursday at 4pm EST to discuss her experiences in Hollywood and why she left, choosing rather to pursue YASHA’UA and the Torah. As a member of our community, she has also opened up a channel at our TUC Discord to discuss a number of pressing issues, like narcissistic abuse.
