“AVOID SCIENCE SO FALSELY CALLED”—THE GODLY MAN LOOKS UP AND SEES THE FIRMAMENT | Reflections in Flat Earth from Nova Scotia

THERE IS GREATER SCIENCE TO BE FOUND IN THE BIBLE AND CATHEDRALS OF OLD than in all the telescopes of astronomy. I shall undoubtedly be labeled a “denier” of Scientism by my Christian peers, and most certainly already have, but if Science with a capitol “S,” even our so-called Christian Scientists, should take issue with Moses, the Apostles and the Prophets, including Yeshua Hamashiach, then becoming an apostate by scientific standards in order to sit down within the host of their blessed company is dining apparel which fits me perfectly well.

Why churches are no longer built under breathtaking domes as those great cathedrals of old once were is a valid question, one in which I would kindly ask of any church goer. Before escaping the enslavement of my own indoctrination in the religion of Scientism, having been taught by Sunday School teachers and pastors alike that God was indeed a Copernican and His own Testimony in the Bible backed the so-called spinning globe model, which they regularly made a point of having me hold—despite three-thousand years of sound and contrary doctrine—-I stood beside the empty tomb of Christ in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, Jerusalem, gazing upwards. I gazed in the darkness of my delusional thinking and I pondered the magnificence of such a dome, and why the Byzantines would go out of their way to lovingly construct one as a monument to God Almighty. I pondered it all, and received no answer—for my mind, you see, was still lost in the fog of delusion.

Churches with domes can be found all over the world. Great cathedrals of the Renaissance, Holy Roman and Byzantine Empire all contained them—even the Ottomans. The Holy Sepulcher specifically features a circular “door-way to heaven,” where a pillar of natural light may freely flow through as it wishes, further prompting us to the observation that the sun moves and not the Earth, and even does so exactly where Polaris might sit in our own sky. It wasn’t until the Spirit of the Lord awakened me to the doctrine of Flat Earth, undeniable truths which I’d glazed over without suspicion for the entirety of my adult reading, that the question hanging above my head became self-explanatory. When Christians dismantled the Biblical creation model of a self-enclosed system underneath a physical firmament in favor of an infinitely spinning ball, so too went the domes—there were metaphorical steeples to be raised in their stead.

“And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” – Genesis 1:6

I’ll also be accused endlessly of dishonoring our so-called Christian brothers of the Bunsen burner. But I have become accustomed to it. This is my day-to-day biography as of late, turning to the Word as my final authority and becoming berated by the church for doing it. There are those who will surely pour hot ashes on their heads and rip the buttons from their shirt, wailing in lament over such a belief as mine, but know this: If a person with the authority of the Institutions to back him stood under such a dome as the Holy Sepulcher knowing the Bible laid the blueprints necessary for it while simultaneously imagining a globe in its stead, then he was not a Godly man—No, no—he was not then nor is he not now, nor will he ever be, unless he correct his opinion with the Lord’s.

That soul, should he wickedly deny the unbreakable and unchanging revelation of God’s creation, has no regard for the firmament in its intended purpose, a word directly used to translate rāqîa’ (רָקִ֫יעַ‎) in Biblical Hebrew, or that it is derived from the root raqqə’ (רָקַע), meaning “to beat or spread out,” e.g., the process of making a dish by hammering thin a lump of metal. He would much rather prefer that you believe in a mystical energy field such as the force rather than the Bible. He has no regard for the ancient Hebrew, considering them to be a silly and stupid nomadic goat-herding people of superstitious lore, who regarded the firmament as solid, with a sun and moon that moved beneath and which also supported ‘waters’ above it, and would not have subscribed to a globe belief had the Lord bothered to tell them the truth about it —unlike their Greek neighbors, who apparently figured it out on their own, and without the Lord’s intervention. Why should those ancient people believe such a claim? Because the Holy Ghost said it was so. And that was good enough for them.

So long dead and buried are the great saints of renown, entire ranks of them—they would most certainly take issue and rebuke any such man in my stead—that I fear I shall have to go at him alone. If only we had Aurelius Ambrosius, better known as Saint Ambrose (337-397), to stand beside the man’s ear and demand that he answer him, “For how can we adopt those things which we do not find in the Holy Scriptures?”

Gregory Nyssen, better known as Gregory of Nyssa (335-394), I should be glad of his company also. He would rightly add, “We are not entitled to such license, I mean that of affirming what we please; we make the Holy Scriptures the rule and the measure of every tenet; we necessarily fix our eyes upon that, and approve that alone which may be made to harmonize with the intention of those writings.”

The man who stands under the dome dreaming up his own fanciful fabrications has neglected not only our spiritual father in the church but Moses and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and the seventy elders of Israel, when they went upon the Mountain and saw with their own eyes the God of Israel. Specifically, “under His feet was something like a pavement made of sapphire, clear as the sky itself,” and as it were the very heaven for clearness (Exodus 24:9-10).” This can literally be translated: “as the bones of heaven in purity,” and we must immediately conclude that such a man has no regard for the holiness of God who, when visiting Moses and Aaron and the Elders of Israel, made a point as to stand on a bone or a fragment or in the very least the very physical substance that originated from the firmament above our heads.

He has refused any such notion that heaven’s very throne is seated upon it—the firmament, that is. He certainly finds Ezekiel to be no credible witness when testifying to this fact, saying: “And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.” (Ezekiel 1:26) Nor does he find a credible witness in the Psalmist, who wrote of the Holy Heaven above our heads, “Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in the firmament of His power (150:1).” And again in Psalm 104, so claims the Psalmist: “Stretching out heaven like a tent curtain. He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters.”

Basil of Caesarea, aka Saint Basil the Great (330-379), would surely tighten his eyes upon the man of Science, having a bone to pick with him, and in my place rightfully proclaim: “The hearers taught in the Scriptures ought to test what is said by teachers and accept that which agrees with the Scriptures but reject that which is foreign!”

If only God made saints like He used to.  John Chrysostom (349-407) would have this to say to him: “Regarding the things I say, I should supply even the proofs, so I will not seem to rely on my own opinions, but rather, prove them with Scripture, so that the matter will remain certain and steadfast.”

Still there is enough room enough for Tertullian (155–240) to stand below the dome who, along with Ambrose, Nyssen, Chrysostom, and Basil, would rightly conclude, “I revere the fullness of His Scripture, in which He manifests to me both the Creator and the creation. In the gospel, moreover, I discover a Minister and Witness of the Creator, even His Word. If it is nowhere written, then let it fear the woe which impends on all who add to or take away from the written word.”

But they are long ago dead and buried. There are only a few of us left who regard the full Revelation of the Holy Ghost as true, and indeed it is not one apostate who stands within the magnificent cathedrals of old, gazing up at celestial domes and reimagining them into ungodly perversions, but a well-funded global army of them, with pastors and teachers everywhere filling in behind. I fear those few of us who remain will have to go at it alone. We have little choice but to turn their eyes back to the Holy Scripture and correct their vision before they should gaze upwards again, and remind them of the great men of our faith, including Paul, who gave these unforgettable instructions to the young God-fearing Timothy:

“20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: 21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.” (1 Timothy 6:20-21)
