If you have read my previous articles here on the Unexpected Cosmology, you will know by now that I have an insatiable desire to research Yah’s cosmology particularly in relation to the stars/luminaries. If this is your first experience of my writing, then I suppose you will soon catch on…it is a deep rabbit-hole but well worth the jump down. So, to begin…

When gazing up at a clear night sky, one can see how YHWH used the stars as metaphors, symbols and promises/messages to His people. To Abraham He promised: “That in blessing I will bless you, and in multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies” (Genesis 22:17). To Isaac, Abraham’s son, he was also promised by YHWH: “… I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed” (Genesis 26:4). Here YHWH is speaking about the blessings He will bestow upon His children; He has made them for a specific purpose, they are His: “Lift up your eyes on high And see who has created these stars, The One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, Not one of them is missing” (Isaiah 40:26).

But He also warns that the stars are there for the sole purpose of being signs used by YHWH and should never be seen as playing a part of gods in their own right: “And beware not to lift up your eyes to heaven and see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, and be drawn away and worship them and serve them, those which the LORD your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven” (Deuteronomy 4:19).It is the stars that should pay homage to YHWH and in the same way humankind should not bow down to the stars but only to their creator father, YHWH: “You alone are the LORD You have made the heavens, The heaven of heavens with all their host, The earth and all that is on it, The seas and all that is in them You give life to all of them And the heavenly host bows down before You” (Nehemiah 9:6).

From the verses I have quoted above, it can be seen that the stars have been given other attributes in their descriptions which paints a slightly different picture from the one we might have been taught from childhood. We are told that YHWH has named them (He calls them all by name, Isaiah 40:26) and that He has counted them (Not one of them is missing, Isaiah 40:26). The stars have been created (You have made the heavens, The heaven of heavens with all their host, Nehemiah 9:6) and were given life (You give life to all of them, Nehemiah 9:6). The stars also are able to honour YHWH through bowing down (And the heavenly host bows down before You, Nehemiah 9:6). Furthermore, YHWH has given the stars purposeful jobs (I stretched out the heavens with My hands And I ordained all their host, Isaiah 45:12) and stars can sing (When the morning stars sang together And all the sons of God shouted for joy, Job 38:7). These descriptions are very human-like, giving us a different take on what we see as merely stars in our sky. Many scholars over time have reflected on this and I have written something about this in a previous post.

From Barnes’ Notes on the Bible we read that when Job describes the morning stars singing there can be little doubt that angelic beings are intended here, though some have thought that the stars literally are referred to, and that they seemed to unite in a chorus of praise when another world was added to their number. The Vulgate renders it, astra matutina, morning-stars; the Septuagint, ὅτε ἐγενήθηναι ἄστρα hote egenēthēnai astra – ” when the stars were made:” the Chaldee, “the stars of the zephyr,” or “morning” – צפר כוכבי… It is applied naturally to those angelic beings that are of distinguished glory and rank in heaven. That it refers to the angels, seems to be evident from the connection; and this interpretation is demanded in order to correspond with the phrase “sons of God” in the other member of the verse.

In a previous post, I alluded to the wandering stars described in the book of Jude. Further to my thoughts at that time, it would appear from the information above, including the highlighted bible verses, that the stars and planets (wandering stars) are in some way connected to/part of the angelic beings. Jude’s talk of wandering stars in verse 13 obviously does not refer to great balls of fire i.e. stars who will be punished, but rather he refers to angels: 13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

The book of Enoch, from which Jude most certainly got his information about the wandering stars/angels, explains that seven particular stars, who were disobedient to God, will receive a terrible punishment in the future:

1 Enoch 21:1. And I proceeded to where things were chaotic. 2. And I saw there something horrible: I saw neither a heaven above nor a firmly founded earth, but a place chaotic and horrible. 3. And there I saw seven stars of the heaven bound together in it, like great mountains and burning with fire. 4. Then I said: ‘For what sin are they bound, and on what account have they been cast in hither?’ 5. Then said Uriel, one of the holy angels, who was with me, and was chief over them, and said: ‘Enoch, why dost thou ask, and why art thou eager for the truth? 6. These are of the number of the stars of heaven, which have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and are bound here till ten thousand years, the time entailed by their sins, are consummated.’ 7. And from thence I went to another place, which was still more horrible than the former, and I saw a horrible thing: a great fire there which burnt and blazed, and the place was cleft as far as the abyss, being full of great descending columns of fire: neither its extent or magnitude could I see, nor could I conjecture. 8. Then I said: ‘How fearful is the place and how terrible to look upon!’ 9. Then Uriel answered me, one of the holy angels who was with me, and said unto me: ‘Enoch, why hast thou such fear and affright?’ And I answered: ‘Because of this fearful place, and because of the spectacle of the pain.’ 10. And he said unto me: ‘This place is the prison of the angels, and here they will be imprisoned for ever.’

Looking further at the movement of stars, Robert L. Laing writes: Judges 5:20 says that the stars fought from heaven in their courses against Sisera, the commander of the army of Jabin, Israel’s enemy? To me, in their courses means that the stars are moving in paths… Genesis 1:16–17 says that God set the stars in heaven. Astronomers have not yet discovered, but they soon will learn that stars are not racing away from us, as scientists today believe, but are fixed in space where they orbit just as we are told in the Bible verses.

Job 38:7 says, “When did I create the morning stars, and all the angels shouted for joy?” Red shift*[see below] and the speed of light measured over the past four hundred years indicate the morning stars sang together at the time of creation. Could it be that the light from one star instantly traveled to another star at the time of creation instead of taking billions of years? And could it be that it really is not billions of years, but that red shift is due to dust and gas in today’s universe rather than velocity of the stars?

So the stars (remembering that they have something to do with angels) are not racing away from us but are in the fixed orbit ordained to them by YHWH: Thus says the LORD, Who gives the sun for light by day And the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night, Who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar; The LORD of hosts is His name (Jeremiah 31:35).

YHWH made the sun moon and stars to obey His order and to speak to humans of His ways. Psalm 33: 6 says: By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. Psalm 147:4 tells us: He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. So we should not be surprised that YHWH has spoken in the past and will speak in the future through His signs in the heavens – indeed we should be prepared to receive His signs and “look up”.

Many of you may well be aware of the following information, but I will explain it for those who are not. On September 23, 2017 a sign in the night skies appeared; the sign had started on 16 November, 2016 when there was a meteor shower radiating from the constellation Leo, which lies just above Virgo. On September 23, 2017 the constellation of Virgo was “clothed with the sun” by her shoulder and the moon was “under her feet”. The 9 brightest stars from the constellation of Leo were at her head together with the three stars mercury, mars and venues so forming 12 stars at her head, as a crown. Then Jupiter had traversed up and down in the womb area of Virgo for 9 months.

This sign in the skies was able to be seen by everyone on earth who looked up and many spoke of this sign at the time; YHWH was able to speak to everyone through His heavenly signs. ₁The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. ₂ Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. ₃ There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. ₄ Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. (Psalm 19: 1-4). So, then we are, of course, reminded of the verses in Revelation Chapter 12: ₁And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: ₂And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. The September 23 sign has not perhaps been fully understood by people – was it the start of something which would lead to years of chaos and calamity and would include the other Revelation 12 images of the stars falling and the dragon waiting to snatch the child in verses 3-4? This was the “talk of the town” at that time and possibly has much to do with the times we are currently experiencing. But whatever this heavenly sign represented, I think that we ought to take heed and be prepared as YHWH’s timing is not ours and to Him a day could equal a year or even a thousand years!

Turning aside from a heavenly sign which already occurred three years ago, I came across some interesting information about a future heavenly sign which I will now share with you and let the reader ponder this.

Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz writes in an article dated 2017: Five years from now, the light from the ancient collision of two stars will reveal a brand-new star in the night sky. According to Jewish esoteric sources, this is precisely the celestial phenomenon which will accompany the arrival of the Messiah. The new star, expected to appear in 2022 in a blaze of light called a nova, will be the brightest heavenly body visible in the night-time sky for six months. It will be the first time in recorded history that a celestial event of this kind will be witnessed by the naked eye. Beyond its scientific uniqueness, the appearance of the new star could have much bigger implications for the earth-bound, one prominent rabbi told Breaking Israel News, pointing to a Biblical prophecy of Balaam which hails the appearance of a new star as the precursor to Messiah. Numbers 24: 17: I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.

…The new star, announced last week by Larry Molnar, a professor of astronomy at Calvin College in Michigan, will certainly be unusual. It is a binary star, or two stars orbiting a central point. Molnar described it as “two peanuts sharing a single shell.” In his observations, Molnar noted that the orbital period was decreasing at an accelerating rate, leading him to understand that the two stars were moving closer to each other. Based on a previous case of binary stars, Molnar predicted the two stars would collide in 2022, resulting in a massive explosion. “[The collision] will release as much energy as the sun releases in its entire lifetime,” Molar said in a video about the discovery.  When the two finally collide, it will create a new star, a red nova. The star’s brightness will increase ten-thousandfold, making it one of the brightest points in the heavens for six months, after which it will fade and remain as a smaller dot in the sky. It will be the first time in history that the creation of a new star will be visible with the naked eye.

This makes interesting reading…if the stars are indeed something to do with angelic beings. I feel that what is described by Berkowitz could well be used as a false flag event as part of a great deception because our picture of the coming Messiah, Yeshua, is not at all described in terms of stars crashing into each other. Instead we read in Matthew 24:

29 “Immediately after the distress of those days ‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ 30 Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.”

So let us analyze such an event as a two-star collision (remembering that any event would be inside the firmament-Genesis 1:14):

Stars are angels/something to do with angels – Possible outcome: a) spiritual warfare; b) could be a sign that foretells an end-times scenario (let them be for signs and seasons); c) could be part of the end-time scenario (and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. Matthew 24:29).

Stars are gaseous or more solid structures – Possible outcome: a) catastrophic event particularly if stars are large causing all kinds of earth-related events; b) could be a sign that foretells an end-times scenario (let them be for signs and seasons); c) could be part of the end-time scenario (and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. Matthew 24:29); d) could form a false-flag event by the enemy if they know it is going to occur and could be used to deceive many (including the Jewish people who are waiting for their messiah).

With all this in mind, and even if some of my readers do not think that the stars are anything to do with angels, some kind of collision event has been observed by astronomers and they have given this event a date. We shall have to see whether any of this plays into Yah’s timeline of end-times events. If we are to be wise, then we should also be aware of what is going on around us currently; there is certainly a spiritual battle raging right now – I am sure you have noticed…

Stars are used by both YHWH and His enemy as signs and portents. As Yah’s children we are to look to the stars as the great mazzaroth which is like the calendar of YHWH (I wrote about this in a previous post) and as signposts (in the same post) but never as astrological signs/necromancers. King Saul made that mistake when he consulted the woman colloquially known as the Witch of Endor to find out if he should do battle with the Philistines. Big mistake! YHWH is the only one he should have consulted.

There is much to reflect on when we gaze up at a clear night sky. What exactly are we looking at? This is now my fifth article reflecting on what is above our heads in the firmament… and I have only scratched the surface.

Keeping our eyes on the scriptures, we read in Matthew 2:9-10 how YHWH used a star to herald the birth of His Son: “After hearing the king, they went their way; and the star, which they had seen in the east, went on before them until it came and stood over the place where the Child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.”

And in YHWH’s creation:

17 God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. Genesis Chapter 1.

*RED RIFT: Intelligent Design Theory gives evidence that evolution based on what is the big bang theory, black holes in space, the Edwin Hubble red shift, the expanding universe theory and time of creation is based on false conclusions and speculation rather than science. Big Bang theory, the expanding universe theory and age of the earth and age of the universe are all based on the Hubble red shift theory of light from stars. This red shift is not caused by the Big Bang theory of the so-called expanding universe, but by slowing of the speed of light from dust and gas in space as the ionization of gas in front of comets in space clearly shows, and as hundreds of photos of dust and gas in front of comets in space clearly show. The changing speed of light with time and red shift due to dust and gas in space correct the time of creation from billions of years to six thousand years. Robert L. Laing
