THE original intent of this paper was to compare Bob Kane’s creation of The Batman with the Jewish Golem creature but then the Millennial Kingdom discussion got involved, the timeline fit like a glove, and why end there? Just recently, I widely expanded my 007 Moonraker paper, The World According to Dolly’s Braces, to involve Stolen His-Story elements, while Back To the Future Was an Actual Time Travel Movie, The Undying Lands: Elves of Middle-Earth and the Millennial Kingdom, and The End of the Millennial Kingdom and Star Wars have likewise taken on a life of their own.
The fact that Batman also happens to resemble a vampire is the obvious part, so why aren’t more people having that discussion? He is as very much a skinwalker prototype as he is a golem, but then, there is also the Incubus element of his character, where sleep paralysis is concerned. He is after all a creature of the night, though mostly, in the duality game, he is referred to as the dark knight. Moving forward, crossing the thin line between material Batman and his spiritual Doppelganger will become a primary focus, just not today. This paper also happens to highlight the golem’s supposed origin in Prague. It seems only appropriate then that I give vampires the same historical treatment, which is why I’ll be turning my attention now to the sleepy little village of Dent.
