President Trump said the United States would no longer tolerate what he described as decades of Iranian deception and aggression, while also warning that Washington remains prepared to prevent Iran from regaining access to enriched uranium buried beneath damaged nuclear facilities.
In remarks focused on Iran’s nuclear program and regional conduct, Trump said the United States continued to monitor Iranian enriched uranium believed to remain under the rubble of nuclear sites struck during recent military operations.
He warned that any attempt to retrieve the material would trigger a US response.
“If anyone approaches the Iranian enriched uranium buried beneath the rubble, we’ll blow it up,” Trump said.
Trump also issued a lengthy statement on Truth Social accusing Iran of misleading the United States and other countries for 47 years while delaying negotiations and supporting attacks against Americans.
“Iran has been playing games with the United States, and the rest of the World, for 47 years (DELAY, DELAY, DELAY!),” Trump wrote.
The president sharply criticized former President Barack Hussein Obama, accusing him of strengthening Tehran by providing financial relief and abandoning US allies in the region.
“He was not only good to them, he was great, actually going to their side, jettisoning Israel, and all other Allies, and giving Iran a major and very powerful new lease on life,” Trump wrote.
Trump claimed Iran received “Hundreds of Billions of Dollars, and 1.7 Billion Dollars in green cash, flown into Tehran,” adding that Iranian officials “had never seen money like this.”
He also accused Iran of killing Americans with roadside bombs, suppressing protests, and “recently wiping out 42,000 innocent, unarmed protestors.”
“They finally found the greatest SUCKER of them all, in the form of a weak and stupid American President,” Trump wrote of Obama.
Trump said Iran “will be laughing no longer” and repeated that the United States remains committed to preventing Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
He also said Iran had suffered severe military damage and claimed the country no longer possessed a significant navy, effective air force, or adequate air defense capabilities.
