ONE of the frequent questions I ask any self-identifying Christian is to state the definition of sin, using chapter-and-verse, naturally. To my constant astonishment, it is nearly impossible finding anyone who can recite what sin actually is. Notice I said nearly but in actuality, according to my own present census, I have yet to find a single Christian who can do so. How tragic. Why must the shepherds of the church be so obstinate about withholding this salvational information? I’ll tell you what it is.
Sin is a transgression of the Torah.
See for yourself.
4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the Torah: for sin is the transgression of the Torah.
1 John 3:4
There it is. Sin is defined by the Apostle John as a transgression of the Torah. The Torah is the first five books of the Bible, in case you were unaware, the books of Moses. In this series, you will see that everyone in the Bible agrees on this one vital Truth. Therefore, to not sin is to be in step with Messiah and the Instructions, and therefore, walking in liberty, whereas sin is living under the judgement of the Torah, and therefore, living in bondage and the curse. I believe coming to an understanding of sin and righteousness is the greatest Truth. A lack of knowledge leads to destruction. Enjoy.
