The IDF describes the leadership complex as the “most important and central headquarters for the Iranian terror regime.”

The Israeli Air Force carried out a large-scale strike on Iran’s “leadership complex” in central Tehran overnight, deploying about 100 fighter jets and dropping more than 250 bombs, the military said Tuesday, as the joint US-Israeli campaign and Iran’s counterattacks entered a fourth day.

The IDF said the compound includes Iran’s presidential bureau, the headquarters of the Supreme National Security Council, a facility used by Iran’s “most senior forum” for meetings, and an “institution for training Iranian army officers.”

It described the site as the “most important and central headquarters for the Iranian terror regime.”

“The leadership complex of the terror regime is one of the most secured assets in Iran and spans many streets in the heart of Tehran,” the military said.

It added that senior leadership and security officials convened there to conduct assessments related to Iran’s nuclear program and what it called plans to destroy the State of Israel.

In a separate announcement later Tuesday, the IDF said it completed additional strikes in western Iran, targeting dozens of ballistic missile launchers, air defense systems, drones and other military assets.

The military said the operations were intended to curb ongoing Iranian fire toward Israel and released footage of the strikes.

Iran, meanwhile, launched more ballistic missiles and drones at Israel and Gulf states. After a roughly 10-hour pause, sirens sounded again across Israel, including in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Submunitions from a cluster bomb warhead hit several locations in central Israel, wounding 12 people, medics said.

Magen David Adom reported that a woman in her 40s was moderately hurt by a blast, while four others were lightly injured by glass shards and explosions.

The IDF confirmed that Iran has used ballistic missiles carrying cluster bomb warheads both in the current conflict and in June 2025’s war, saying each warhead disperses around 20 smaller munitions weighing about 2.5 kilograms across an area of roughly 8 kilometers.

Elsewhere, Iranian drones struck the US embassy in Riyadh, causing a “limited” fire, according to Saudi authorities, though videos showed extensive flames. The Saudi foreign ministry called the attack “heinous and unjustified,” and said eight additional drones were intercepted. In the United Arab Emirates, debris from downed drones ignited a fire at an oil facility in Fujairah that was later contained, officials said.
