Trump has repeatedly said that any agreement must address Iran’s nuclear program.

An Iranian military official warned that conflict with the United States could resume as President Donald Trump rejected a new ceasefire proposal from Tehran, saying he was dissatisfied with its terms.

Iran’s Fars news agency cited Mohammad Jafar Asadi, a senior figure in the Iranian military’s central command, as saying that “a renewed conflict between Iran and the United States is likely.”

The proposal submitted by Iran called for an end to the US naval blockade, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and a delay in nuclear negotiations.

Trump indicated the offer did not meet his expectations.

“They want to make a deal,” Trump told reporters, adding, “I’m not satisfied with it.”

Speaking outside the White House, Trump said he had been briefed on potential military responses if an agreement is not reached, including plans to “blast the hell out of them.”

“They want to make a deal, but I’m not satisfied with it,” he said. “They’re asking for things that I can’t agree to.”

The president did not outline specific points of disagreement but has repeatedly said that any agreement must address Iran’s nuclear program and prevent the Islamic Republic from developing a nuclear weapon.

“They’ve made strides, but I’m not sure if they ever get there,” Trump said, referring to Iran’s leadership, which he described as having “tremendous discord.” He added that Iran’s leaders were “not getting along with each other, and it puts us in a bad position.”

Pakistani officials said Iran had submitted a new proposal but did not provide details.

In Israel, the political-security cabinet is scheduled to meet Monday night to review the U.S.-Iran negotiations, continued fighting in Lebanon despite a ceasefire, and the situation in Gaza amid Hamas’s refusal to disarm, according to Ynet.

Israeli officials are also preparing for the possibility that fighting with Iran could resume if negotiations break down.
