In the Dark and All Alone

by Randy Conway

Owned by fear the children weep

On the streets or in their homes

Crying in the dark and all alone.

One by one or in huddled masses

An emptiness that never passes

Crying in the dark and all alone.

No one hears their cries, or no one cares

No arms to hold them no love to share

Crying in the dark and all alone.

Some have a mother but she’s disconnected

By their fears she’s unaffected

Their left crying in the dark and all alone.

Some have fathers wrapped in addiction

He can’t see their tears for his own affliction

Their left crying in the dark and all alone.

The insatiable hunger of persistent wars

Has birthed homeless orphans lost and poor

Crying in the dark and all alone.

Mothers sit clutching memories now grown cold

The little ones at her feet have now grown old

She’s crying in the dark and all alone.

A dream is crushed once a fairy tale

A young woman cries for a marriage failed

She’s crying in the dark and all alone.

Success consumes the thoughts of a young man’s mind

An illusory dream he could not find

Hiding tears in the dark and all alone.

A father looks for fulfillment in another

Empty now leaving his children and their mother

All now crying in the dark and all alone.

Darkness, tears and pain in this world prevail

Nurtured by satan and birthed in hell

He’s the prince of darkness and lies that you’re alone.

But there is one upon who dwells the Spirit of the Lord,

Because the Lord has anointed Him to:

“Preach the good news to the poor,

to bind up the brokenhearted,

to proclaim freedom for the captives

and release from darkness for the prisoners,

to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor

and the day of vengeance of our God,

To comfort all who morn

and provide for those who grieve in Zion-

to bestow on them a crown of beauty

Instead of ashes, the oil of gladness

Instead of mourning, and a garment of praise

Instead of a spirit of despair.” (Is.61:1-3)

The world is held in darkness while a flood of tears are cried

The Son of God consumes the sins of the world and dies.

In the dark and all alone.

Calvary’s sacrifice made by Jesus Christ

To give to us the gift of light

No more dark, no more alone.

There is coming a day when the dwelling of God

Will be with men.

“and God Himself will live with them.

He will wipe every tear from their eyes.

There will be no more death or mourning

or cry’s.

for the old order of things has passed away.” (Rev. 21:4)

No one left in the dark or all alone.
