Eclipse of Reason

Poetry

Eclipse of Reason

by Deon Chase

Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

Proverbs 31:8

I hear the children

Of the future

Their crying out

Without a voice

A generation

Lost forever

It’s not about

Freedom of choice

An inconvenience

The selfish reason

For our sins

It’s open season

With silent tears

I hear them cry

How much longer

Must children die

Stripped of hope

Without a chance

Innocent victims

Of circumstance

They have no freedom

No liberty

Only injustice

We fail to see

Eclipse of reason

We try to hide

From the truth

We know inside

The countless tears

And endless sorrow

Thousands more

Will die tomorrow

How many children

Must be lost

Before we end

This holocaust

Is there no shame

We have no pride

How can we kill

The unborn child

Why won’t we let

Our children live

For they have so much

Love to give

Let them sing

Let them play

Let them see

The light of day
