Her name was Alice Guy-Blaché by the way. Recognize her? The baby harvester from the postcards. It’s her alright. Back then she was simply known as Alice Guy though. Very few people know anything about the silent film actress, not even the film historians, which is slightly odd considering the fact she was very likely the first filmmaker to put a narrative onto film. Yes, you heard me right. She was an actress and a filmmaker, the very first narrative filmmaker, but also a director and a woman to boot. And you’ll never guess what the movie was about.
