Hollywood actress Selma Blair was arrested after authorities say she became physically abusive aboard a Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York.
The initial allegations were startling: Blair allegedly tried to open an aircraft door while the plane was in the air, punched one flight attendant, and bit another. Delta later said it has no record of Blair attempting to open the door midflight.
Two crew members reported injuries. One was taken to a hospital.
TMZ’s breaking report included video coverage of the incident and the allegations now facing Blair.
The flight was Delta 938, which traveled from Los Angeles International Airport to John F. Kennedy International Airport on Sunday.
The Gateway Pundit reports that Port Authority Police responded around 11 p.m. after the aircraft reached the gate at JFK. Officials identified Blair, 54, as the allegedly abusive passenger and said she was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for evaluation.
The FBI is investigating the incident. There was no immediate public announcement of federal charges.
That distinction matters, but it does not make the reported conduct any less serious. Flight attendants are responsible for the safety of everyone aboard an aircraft, and an alleged attack on the crew creates danger far beyond the people directly involved.
Fox News reported the first official details from investigators, including the injuries reported by both flight attendants.

TMZ initially reported that the confrontation began after Blair allegedly attempted to open the plane door during the flight. The outlet later added that Blair was restrained aboard the aircraft, while Delta said it has no record that she tried to open the door.
The outlet says one flight attendant suffered a laceration and another was bitten. The Port Authority said two attendants reported injuries, with one requiring hospital treatment.
TMZ also reports that Blair allegedly kicked a Port Authority police officer in the head while she was being taken to the hospital, then allegedly assaulted a nurse after arriving. Those additional allegations have not yet resulted in a public charging announcement.
Blair was also taken to a hospital for evaluation after her arrest.
Her representative said Blair experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. The representative said she received immediate medical attention after landing and was in stable condition.
No public explanation has identified the nature of that reported medical emergency.
Whatever investigators eventually determine about Blair’s condition, the flight crew still had to confront an allegedly violent passenger while responsible for a plane full of travelers. Trying to interfere with an aircraft door and attacking attendants is not a harmless celebrity episode.
Delta also addressed the incident and condemned the reported behavior.

Fox News reports that the aircraft was parked at the gate after arriving from LAX when Port Authority officers responded. The airline said it has zero tolerance for unruly behavior and thanked its crew members for their professionalism.
Blair has starred in films including Cruel Intentions, Legally Blonde, The Sweetest Thing, and the Hellboy series.
Blair previously faced another highly publicized problem aboard a plane. In 2016, she was removed from a flight by stretcher after an outburst and later apologized, attributing that episode to mixing alcohol with medication.
The current case is more serious because two crew members allegedly suffered injuries, authorities are investigating additional alleged assaults after landing, and the FBI is now involved.
Investigators will have to determine exactly what happened, what role the reported medical emergency played, and whether Blair will face additional charges. For the passengers and crew aboard Delta 938, the danger was immediate, no matter how famous the person at the center of it was.
